I met up with Jorge and Joseph of Thee Azmatics at dba256 in Pomona (thanks for letting us hang out). We talked music, day jobs and scenesters while The Ramones played on the speakers in tribute to the absent Jacob. Show up next time.
7 – Vic Alva | Emo Night Pomona
I met up with Vic Alva of Emo Night Pomona to talk about his history with the event, working with artists both iconic and on the rise, as well as Emo Night’s new home at dba256. This is a longer one, so strap in.
6 – Andrea Esperanza Martinez
Andrea is a musician, choreographer and dance teacher who fronts two bands – Funk’d Martini and Popgun Rerun. We met up in Pomona where we talked about her history in music and life as an entertainer. Thanks to Acerogami for letting us hang out.
5 – Elle Belle
I met up with Chris Pappas of Elle Belle to talk about his latest record, No Signal, studio discipline and bands we never got into. Big thanks to the charming Figaro Bistrot for the hospitality.
4 – Kriist Long + LaRae Ewing
Kriist Long is a multi-instrumentalist, former drummer with Harriers of Discord and is currently working on his own project, Quintessence. LaRae Ewing currently works in special needs education and has a history in the entertainment industry.
3 – Sade.img
Just in time for the Christmas-New Year squish, I hung out with fellow music photographer Sade de la Espriella (@sade.img). We talked some shop, music and people with camera phones at shows.
2 – Brain Fragment
Hey folks! This episode is with Brain Fragment, the LA-based experimental trio featuring one of my oldest friends, David Craig. This one was two hours of talking a lot around music, with hints of that industry talk I teased you with before. Check it out here, on Spotify and iTunes!
1 – Vinny Macias
I spoke with Vinny Macias, former bassist of Jetpacks And Laser Guns (disbanded in 2015) and current filmmaker. We ran into each other a few weeks ago at Claremont Craft Ales after years of lost contact, so it was time to catch up on his work.
Thanks to Charlie’s Stars & Stripes in downtown Upland, CA for the hospitality!
Photos - Undead Prom @ Teragram Ballroom
“You know that feeling when you invite everyone to a costume party and you’re the only one who dressed up?”
I returned to Teragram last night to cover Smoke Season, Bahari and Kid Bloom for the Undead Prom. The only two people I saw who dressed up weren’t even together and Bahari was quick to point out the lack of participation. I totally forgot.
Here are some photos from the night in order – Bahari, Smoke Season + Kid Bloom. I’m still playing with format here, so bear with me.
